Alpha Xi (Washington University-St. Louis)
Andrew Caplan, 1991, and Seth Fink, 1991, became brothers of ZBT in the fall of 1987 at Washington University in St Louis. They became fast friends who stayed in close touch post-graduation, frequently getting together and reminiscing about their wonderful times as ZBT undergraduate brothers.
About 30 years after they met as new brothers, Seth and Andrew traveled to Argentina with their wives and children for a family vacation where they explored cities, went to soccer games, ate way too many empanadas, and discovered a major appreciation for Argentinian wine. Little did they know that that trip would be the start of a business venture that combined their love of wine with their love of their fraternity.
Once back home, Seth and Andrew decided to purchase a small vineyard in Mendoza, Argentina, where they could create a wine that symbolized their friendship and as a result, Dos Zetas (meaning “two Zetas” in Spanish) was born. They started out solely making Malbec wine but have since expanded their ZBT-inspired line to include several red varietals, a crisp white Sauvignon Blanc, and a soon-to-be launched Dos Zetas orange wine. Every bottle of Dos Zetas wine is easily identified by the large beta fish on the front label.
Dos Zetas is shared at many family gatherings and celebrations, and is quite popular amongst Andrew’s and Seth’s ZBT brothers as a way to reminisce and connect with their ZBT brotherhood. Dos Zetas is making its debut in local restaurants and can be purchased online. To learn more about Dos Zetas wines, please click here.

Henry Solomon, 1958, is excited to introduce you to a new blog that he launched on February 5, called The Patient Was…
Unlike most medical blogs and publications, The Patient Was… does not focus on unusual diseases or miraculous treatments. It explores, instead, the complicated human interactions that are the underpinning of medical care — the reactions and behaviors of patients and physicians in their true-life encounters with one another.
You’ll find the blog at the following link: ThePatientWas.com.
A new “patient encounter” will be posted each Wednesday at 11am Eastern. Brother Solomon hopes you’ll read, enjoy and find meaning in these true-life stories, which are based on my many years as a physician in private medical practice.
Whether you’re a physician or a patient (and aren’t we all?), he welcomes your feedback, as well as your own medical experiences in and out of the examining room.
The doctor is in.

The competition attracted over 500 amazing projects. Brother Raffone said he is truly grateful to the jury for recognizing the efforts in laying out the motivation to piece together the Talkomic app, sharing with the community its design, and what they learnt by fleshing out the details and illustrate the steps to reproduce the project.
Brother Solorzano said: “It was great reconnecting on a pro-bono project with Brother Solorzano and we hope it can inspire more brothers to experiment with new technologies and keep their life-long friendship strong.”
