The Zeta Beta Tau Foundation announces the retirement of Brother James (Jim) P. Summers, Gamma Epsilon (Marshall University) 1970, as Chair of the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation’s Corporate Governance Committee. With gratitude and admiration, we thank Brother Summers for a lifetime of service to ZBT and to the brothers who have followed in his footsteps.

On October 21, 1966, Brother Summers’ journey with Zeta Beta Tau began at Marshall University in Gamma Epsilon. Immediately upon graduation, his career with Zeta Beta Tau began on June 8, 1970, when he joined the Fraternity as a Field Secretary, more recently known as a Chapter Consultant. After spending more than two years in that role, he pursued graduate studies at the University of Southern California. Then built a successful 35-year career in information technology sales and marketing. In 2011, his professional path came full circle when he returned to ZBT, serving nearly five years as Director of Development for the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation before retiring from staff service in 2016.

“It has been a good run for which I am proud,” Brother Summers said then, a sentiment shared by the many brothers whose lives he touched along the way.

True to form, Brother Summers could not stay away for long. He soon returned once more, this time as Chair of the Foundation’s Corporate Governance Board, where his experience, steady leadership, and institutional knowledge proved invaluable.

Now, Brother Summers is officially stepping back from this role. He may be hanging up his hat, but never his letters. We are profoundly grateful for his more than 50 years of devotion to Zeta Beta Tau, and for the legacy of leadership and brotherhood he leaves behind.

Those who have worked with Brother Summers know him as a loyal brother, trusted friend, and deeply dedicated leader. His infectious and unending warmth of spirit has brought us together, strengthening relationships with alumni and undergraduate brothers alike, and contributing meaningfully to the growth and stability of both our Fraternity and the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation.

Thank you, Brother Summers, for all you have given to ZBT.

Welcome to New Corporate Governance Committee Members

The Zeta Beta Tau Foundation is pleased to welcome three distinguished brothers to the Corporate Governance Committee. We are grateful for their willingness to serve and for the wisdom they bring to the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation at this important moment.

Please join us in welcoming these brothers and thanking them for their continued dedication to Zeta Beta Tau.

A longtime Trustee and Chapter Advisor to the Alpha Rho Chapter at UCLA, Brother Katz is guided by a philosophy of giving back to institutions that shaped him. His commitment to Zeta Beta Tau is shared by his wife, Linda, recipient of the inaugural Nancy Simon Award for outstanding spousal support of the Fraternity.

Bruce H. Weinstein, Psi (University of Alabama) 1970, Member

Brother Weinstein, former President of the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation (2015-2017) and current Director Emeritus, is a nationally recognized financial advisor specializing in estate, retirement, and charitable planning. A frequent honoree for his professional and volunteer leadership, he was inducted into the Psi Chapter Hall of Fame in 2016 and has long supported both civic and Jewish communal organizations. His commitment to leadership and service reflects the highest ideals of Zeta Beta Tau.
