Leadership from ZBT’s Supreme Council

ZBT’s board of directors is called the Supreme Council. The Council is comprised of 13 brothers who govern the direction of the Fraternity; support the mission of the Fraternity by working with undergraduates as advisors or mentors; attend Fraternity events such as regional programs, convention, and alumni events in home cities; and works to improve the overall Fraternity through service on various committees.

First Vice President Barry M. Aarons

Gamma Tau (Arizona State University) 1971

What are your goals and priorities as a Supreme Councilor?

My goals are to participate in a robust Supreme Council in support of both the undergraduate brothers as well as our alumni brothers. We need to demonstrate that “Brotherhood for a Lifetime” is more than just a slogan.

What advice do you have to give to other ZBTs as it relates to maximizing their fraternity experience?

Create opportunities to work and recreate with other brothers from all chapters and all periods of time. Learn from other brothers about life and work.

International Secretary Dr. Zachary P. Nahmias

Gamma Mu (University of Memphis)  2010

What are your goals and priorities as a Supreme Councilor?

To improve the undergraduate experience. I hope to showcase all the ways our chapters are committed to justice and brotherly love.

What advice do you have to give to other ZBTs as it relates to maximizing their fraternity experience?

ZBT is a laboratory for the rest of your life. The more you put into the experience, the more you will get out. Take advantage of all the opportunities in front of you. Now is the time.

International Treasurer Craig J. Wild, CPA

Gamma Phi ( Hofstra University) 1979

What are your goals and priorities as a Supreme Councilor?

My goal has always been to repay my debt to ZBT. ZBT has trained me to be a better person and a better businessman. From the first day, I was pushed to take on tasks and become a leader and better person. After all these years, I can attribute part of my success both business and personal to my time in the Fraternity during college.

What advice do you have to give to other ZBTs as it relates to maximizing their fraternity experience?

Take the time to meet and get to know all of your brothers and their wide variety of their backgrounds. By understanding each brother, you will be able to understand where they come from and their points of view. This will allow you to understand many different people and their points of view.

Supreme Councilor Bernard (Buddy) E. Weissman, Ph.D.

Xi (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) 1975

What are your goals and priorities as a Supreme Councilor?

I want to ensure that ZBT maintains and expands its leadership role among Fraternities and Sororities for trailblazing new directions in Greek life and for innovative programming. I especially want us to increase diversity in our brotherhood to offer the ZBT experience to the broadest audience including undergraduates, alumni and parents. I also believe that ZBT should remain a force for justice and equity in our society in keeping with the Jewish values that form the foundation of our Fraternity.

What advice do you have to give to other ZBTs as it relates to maximizing their fraternity experience?

I urge all brothers to cultivate and grow the relationships that you initiated as an undergraduate. The brothers that joined your chapter with you will become your closest friends during college. Do not let those bonds fade after you graduate. Don’t wait 30 years until you contact each other after graduation. Unless the pandemic intervenes, I am joining 11 of my pledge brothers in October to celebrate 50 years of brotherhood since we joined the Xi Chapter (MIT). However, there were many years between graduation and our first reunion event. In addition, you can expand your circle of brothers by becoming involved with alumni events. Some of my best friends are brothers from other chapters that I have met over the last 15 years by volunteering for the Fraternity.

Supreme Councilor Seth Levine, Ed.D, CPA

Alpha Omega (University of Miami) 1984

What are your goals and priorities as a Supreme Councilor?

My goals and priorities as a Supreme Councilor are to continue to highlight all of the many benefits that come with joining a fraternity and becoming a brother for a lifetime, especially since my own association with Zeta Beta Tau continues to pay intangible benefits throughout my personal life and professional career. I also aim to speak out against the negative myths and stereotypes often erroneously attributed to or associated with the fraternity experience.

What advice do you have to give to other ZBTs as it relates to maximizing their fraternity experience?

For undergraduate brothers, I suggest continuing to get more involved in other activities and organizations on and off campus in order to make the most out of your undergraduate experience. The concept of giving back to those less fortunate has always been a strong tenet of our Brotherhood. For alumni brothers, I suggest finding ways to reconnect with one another, and work to mentor and assist our undergraduates as they seek internships and other employment opportunities.

Supreme Councilor Congressman J. Martin Frost, III

Omega (University of Missouri) 1964

Help ZBT maintain its high standard.

Volunteer at any level that is appropriate.

Undergraduate Supreme Councilor Michael C. de Botton

Alpha Psi (Pennsylvania State University) 2023

What are your goals and priorities as a Supreme Councilor?

My main goal as an Undergraduate Supreme Councilor is to help provide the heads of this great Fraternity insight on what it is like to be a current brother. This is very important so that we can make decisions to increasingly make ZBT a better place that future brothers will want to join. I want to make sure that I take full advantage of the position and put just as much into it as I take out of it.

What advice do you have to give to other ZBTs as it relates to maximizing their fraternity experience?

My advice to other ZBTs would be to fully take advantage of all that ZBT offers. This fraternity provides so much for its brothers that seems greatly untouched. Whether that be scholarships, executive board positions, alumni relations, Undergraduate Supreme Council spots or something else, we are so much more than a social club!

Undergraduate Supreme Councilor Callan L. Hill

Eta Mu (California Polytechnic State University)  2023

What are your goals and priorities as a Supreme Councilor?

My goal and priority is to make sure that any additions or changes we make to the undergraduate experience will really benefit and be used by chapters.

What advice do you have to give to other ZBTs as it relates to maximizing their fraternity experience?

Be a “yes man” for the first two years of your fraternal experience. Try everything to find out what you like.

Chapter Advisor Liaison Jason J. Colombini

Eta Mu (California Polytechnic State University) 2014

What are your goals and priorities as a Supreme Councilor?

Ensure that our chapter advisors are well trained, effective, and represented. I want to make sure positive change happens that is practical to implement for advisors and undergraduates.

What advice do you have to give to other ZBTs as it relates to maximizing their fraternity experience?

Get involved in anything and everything that you can! The time you spend volunteering and making a better brotherhood will pay dividends as the years go by.
