Cal Poly chapter earns Brummer Cup

The Eta Mu Chapter at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo has earned two incredible recognitions in 2023. First, Eta Mu was named one of the top fraternity chapters in North America, and then celebrated taking home the Brummer Cup for most outstanding chapter in ZBT at 2023 International Convention.

Eta Mu earned an Award of Distinction from the North American Interfraternity Conference in June. The NIC’s Awards of Distinction recognize individuals, chapters, councils and organizations annually to highlight those who exemplify excellence in leadership, service and education within the fraternal community.  Zeta Beta Tau is a Governing Council organization among NIC members.

Specifically, Chapter Awards of Distinction recognize exceptional fraternity collegiate chapters demonstrating excellence in operations, involvement in their fraternity/sorority and campus community, and a commitment to a positive fraternity experience. Just eight chapters were selected this year and ZBT’s Eta Mu is the only chapter on the West Coast to earn this recognition.

“Zeta Beta Tau is proud of this chapter and the way brothers rise above others in their fraternity community and operate with excellence and integrity,” said Fraternity Chief Executive Officer Libby Anderson, CAE. “Eta Mu Chapter just celebrated its 10th anniversary and it maintains incredible alumni and advisory support. This is a testament to the strength of the bonds of brotherhood at Cal Poly as well as the overall commitment to maintaining a top-tier fraternity experience.”

Eta Mu was named the chapter of the year award from Cal Poly in 2022. The chapter boasts the highest GPA on campus, 115 hours of community service per brother and fundraising amounts over $23,000 in the last year.

The Chapter strongly represents overall fraternal values and responsibilities, and demonstrates excellence in chapter operations, academics, service and interfraternalism.

The Chapter shared a statement: “These achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and passion of every single brother here at Cal Poly who has contributed to our chapter’s successes.”
