Sharing your experience as an undergraduate ZBT with your biological brother creates a special bond. In the Hopp family, having a fraternity experience is a celebrated part of going to college.

Ryan A. Hopp, 2026, graduated from Rutgers this May after having served the Beta Delta Chapter as President for two terms. His little brother Sean M. Hopp, 2028, joined Beta Delta when Ryan was a junior.

“He was the first bid given and first accepted,” Ryan said of Sean’s class, an impressive size of 30 men. “Our parents are so proud.”

Their dad, Andrew is a Theta Xi alumnus from the University of Delaware. Sean’s twin brother Colin joined Delta Tau Delta at the University of Georgia. The family lives in Pilesgrove, New Jersey.

The Hopp brothers grew up seeing the lasting bonds of a fraternity. Their father’s friends today remain his chapter brothers, and Ryan and the twins saw these relationships growing up. As the oldest, Ryan knew he wanted to join a fraternity when he went to Rutgers.

He met the ZBT brothers at an involvement fair and really liked the guys. It wasn’t long later that he and a group of his fellow freshmen friends all were initiated.

“I knew wanted to be involved in a leadership position and do something important with my time,” Ryan said. “I don’t like to the be to who sits back and complains without taking action.”

Ryan was elected president as a sophomore and faced some incredible challenges, including a major fire at a chapter house. He stepped up as a strong leader over his time and was a driving factor in progress at Beta Delta that caused them to earn last year’s prestigious Meissner Award for Most Improved Chapter in ZBT.

Sean is following in the leadership footsteps and is now serving as Brotherhood Development Director. Sean lives in the newly secured Beta Delta house, which is in a great spot on campus and should help the chapter continue its growth.

Ryan claimed he is the typical older brother, very loud and talkative. He said Sean has always been the quietest of the three Hopp sons.

“On behalf of me and my family, we’re all happy that he’s been able to break out of his shell and be the most confident and outgoing version of himself,” Ryan said. “It’s due in part to joining a fraternity and taking up leadership roles.”

Sean is majoring in communications and will graduate in two more years. Ryan just graduated with a degree in exercise science and will be seeking his doctorate in physical therapy at Thomas Jefferson University after a gap year. During the gap year, he is working for ZBT International Headquarters.
